How to Clean After a Renovation

Standard vacuums just blow the dust around. Here is the pro method.

Construction dust is not like normal household dust. It is made of fine silica particles that are harmful to breathe and can ruin electronics. If you try to clean it with a standard domestic vacuum, you will just push the dust back into the air.

1. Use HEPA Filtration

You need a vacuum with a HEPA filter to trap the microscopic dust particles. Standard vacuums lack the filtration to capture them.

2. Clean Top-to-Bottom

Always start at the ceiling and work down. Clean ceiling corners and light fittings first, then walls and skirting boards, and finally the floors.

3. Tackle Paint Splashes Early

Paint and plaster splashes are much harder to remove once they set. Use a professional scraper and appropriate solvent early.

4. Clean Vents and Radiators

Dust gets trapped in radiator fins and vents. Use a brush attachment to remove it.
